The more homes I work in, the more I see that what we surround ourselves with is what we experience. When we surround ourselves with reminders of what we don't have, more things show up that support the belief that we don't have enough. When we surround ourselves with things that remind us that anything is possible, more things show up that support this belief. The feelings that our surroundings bring us, is what manifests for us because that is what is always on our minds.
Now, Feng Shui isn't 100% intention, so you do want to pay attention to the patterns. If you put fire (an actual fire place, triangles or even red) in your wealth area, you will feel it in your wallet. One of my students put all of her bills in a red box in her wealth area. Soon she began having trouble making ends meet. She began having unexpected bills and found that where she didn't have problems before, she did now. Her intention was that red was gook luck, but she didn't take into account where she was putting it and what it meant to that area of her home. About two weeks later she realized what she had done and put her bills in a black box (black = water, which feeds the wood in the wealth area) and things turned back around!
What story does your home tell about you? What is your home creating for you? When you are making adjustments in your home, the adjustment needs to make sense to you. If you are just placing some object in some corner, how is that really going to support your goals? Make it meaningful, so that when you walk into your home you see inspiration in every room; this is the way Feng Shui will work for you!
